My Life, quilt as you go lap quilt, Suzn Quilts Patterns

Lucy’s Freebie Friday

I’m a great aunt again,

so of course I had to make a quilt!

I already knew what quilt I was going to make for Lucy.

In case you don’t remember,

two summers ago I designed this book for just these occasions.

It contains the whole (full-size & reversed) alphabet

& instructions for a 42″ square baby quilt,

(This is Lucy’s big brother. He’ll be 2 in a couple of weeks!)

& it also has instructions for a lap quilt for kids, toddler up to 100 yrs. old!

Lucy’s mom (my niece, Amanda) decorated her nursery with a Paris theme.

She gave me the Timeless Treasures Paris fabric she’d bought then I added the softer pink for the alternating stripes & a matching brown for her name & the binding.

I love the way it turned out & I hope Amanda does too!

We’re going to see (& spoil) Lucy in a bit.

Now for the fun part…

I’m going to give away a “Name That Quilt” book!

Just leave me a comment

telling me about your favorite baby quilt,

either one you made or one you received.

I’ll post the winner here on Monday.

Until next time,

Susan

  1. I too have become a great aunt recently – I’m making William an I spy quilt but what a great idea to add his name! Thanks!

  2. I don’t know if I have a favorite baby quilt! I’ve made so many different and unique ones that I like them all. :-). I do like the idea of putting a name on the quilt and I will have to try that next time. Thanks for sharing and for the giveaway.

  3. My favorite one was also a bunny quilt made for my granddaughter named “Some bunny loves Margo”. Thanks for a chance to win, would really like to make a quilt from your book.

  4. I made a baby quilt for my husband’s granddaughter’s new baby about two years ago. The reason it is probably my favorite is because Katy (the granddaughter) loved it so much and thought it was beautiful and said she would always cherish it..It made me feel so good that she was so proud of it.

  5. Baby quilts are the best. The one I remember most is the one that I made when I first started quilting, with my non quilting sister in law and niece. I really don’t remember much about how it turned out, but the process was so wonderful doing it together. I was hooked!

  6. I have made quilts for great nieces, typically, very simple quilts. I would like to be able to add names. I love it when the mom poses the baby on my quilt for all the monthly photos.
