new fabric collection

At market I fell in love with Lisa Bongean’s

Flower Garden Gatherings by Moda.

It’s a rainbow of color!

I got samples a while back & finally set to cutting up the whole jelly roll into…

Yup!

~~~Tiny Dresden petals~~~
I must have cut close to a million of them.
OK, maybe 1,650 like the jelly roll of Jo Morton’s New Hope that I cut up & sewed back in January.
Aren’t they lovely???
Betsy agreed to hold them tangle-free as I work on 100 or so at a time.
There are so many that you can’t even see poor Betsy.
So far I have about 28 plates made.
My cutlery trays sure come in handy as I trim & press & move from ironing board to sewing machine to cutting table.
Can’t wait to show you more designs that you can make with little Dresden plates.
Are you sewing my Dresden Quilt Workshop Sampler with me?
You can see lots of color options on our Dresden Quilt Workshop Facebook group.
Please join & follow along to sew this awesome quilt.
It’s free.
You just need to buy the book, Dresden Quilt Workshop, & follow my blog.
It’s on my website if you still need a copy or if you want a kit.
Thanks for stopping by!
For months I’ve been harboring these.
Patiently they’ve been waiting since early December of last year.
Life even gets in the way of bolts & bolts of beautiful fabric sometimes.
But now they’ve been opened
& united with their intended.
Hanging out in good company.
They’ve been cut, readying to find new homes
in hope to also one day be sewn into pretty little Dresden plate quilts.
Meet Dresden Quilt Workshop Sampler:
My very first Quilt-Along!
I designed this quilt using a bit of
each of the 13 quilts featured in my new book,
Dresden Quilt Workshop.
Do you have yours yet?
If not, it’s time to head to your favorite quilt shop & get your copy today
(or tomorrow).
Stay posted for all the details right here.
If your local shop isn’t selling the books you can find them
along with my Tiny & Mini Dresden Templates
& now the exclusive Dresden Quilt Workshop Sampler fabric kits too
all right here on my website!
Here’s just a bit of the rainbow that I’ve been cutting this morning.
Meet the new Grunge Seeing Stars by BASICGREY for Moda Fabrics.
In case you’ve not noticed,
it’s a another Tiny Dresden Pattern, duh!
I was smart and put a new blade in my rotary cutter BEFORE I started cutting!
I forget how much use these things get and how they dull over time because,
  1. I get busy
  2. It happens so slowly
  3. I don’t pay attention to my blade unless it starts skipping threads & ticks me off!!!
I’m glad I thought ahead this time,
because my cutting went so much faster because of the new blade.
A new sharp blade also keeps the blade from kind of scooting the fabric.
It slices right through it instead.
So, I cut a whole quilt this morning in about an hour!
Now I’m set to chain piece.
Gotta go get a movie picked out to listen to while I work.
I also just remembered that I need to heat up my new Mighty Steam Iron.
Remember me telling you about it here?
I love that cute little thing!
What are you doing on this (rainy) spring day?
I hope this new year, 2018, will be a year of new hope for you.
Finally just today, I broke into my New Hope fabric collection
by Jo Morton for Moda.
I love every single fabric in this collection.
I’m pretty sure Jo designed if just for me.
It looks so cute with my new-to-me antique children’s sewing machines that I received for Christmas from David!
He did a great job of finding just what I wanted.
Now if I could just twinkle my nose & have my new quilts appear!
Not really, that’s the part that I love!
I can’t decide which design to start on first…
I know I’ll be cutting Tiny Dresden petals from the jelly roll.
I’ve been thinking about just taking the whole jelly roll, 4 strips at a time, (8 layers) & cutting petals…and not stop sewing until I have a bazillion Tiny Dresden petals made and see where that takes me.
Sound like fun?
It does to me!
This will also give me a taste of the whole collection, which then usually starts my creative juices flowing.
It will be hard to stop me then. New Hope will be in my veins.
I thought I’d start with my favorite fabric, but that’s impossible!
I’m just going to have to jump in & start cutting!
New Hope is shipping to quilt shops this month.
Thanks, Jo Morton!
Thanks, Moda Fabrics!
Wish me luck.
I wish you all new hope in fabric & life this new year, 2018.
I found a magical fabric collection!
It’s Circulus & Lollies Sweet by Jen Kingwell for Moda fabrics.
There are lots of dots,
but the cool part is all the stripes from just a handful of prints!
Each stripe will accommodate my Tiny & Mini Dresden petals and my Tiny Dresden background squares too.
It’s not my usual color pallet you might say, but I sure am loving the bright variety of these fabrics!
New ideas are in store for you here on my cutting table!
These are some Mini Dresden petals.
A nice bold, fun contrast don’t you think?
I’m working on the new pattern samples but it’ll be a bit before they’re ready for you.
Look at this sweet mess!!!
I can’t wait to show you all of it!
In the meantime, what are you up to?
I hope it’s something fun.
I think you’ll agree, Snowfall is beautiful!
Of course I’m talking about a new fabric line
not the stuff that comes with cold weather
like what we had a taste of last week,
along with two nearly 70 degree days.
Much to Nemo’s dismay it was so nice I gave him a bath one of those days!
But nope, I’m talking about the new Snowfall fabric line.
suznquiltssnowfall6
This is Minick & Simpson’s new Christmas line by Moda.
It is scheduled to be delivered to quilt shops near you in April.
It will be here before we know it.
Goodness, it’s Valentine’s Day already tomorrow.
Where does the time go?
suznquiltssnowfall2
I love these ladies and their beautiful fabrics!
suznquiltssnowfall1
This line has cute little prints in my favorite Christmas colors.
suznquiltssnowfall7
I’m pretty sure they designed it just for me ;)
suznquiltssnowfall8
They’ll make perfect little Dresden plates don’t you think?
suznquiltssnowfall10
It has some gorgeous woven plaids too.
suznquiltssnowfall9
I’ve been harboring these beauties since December!
suznquiltssnowfall15
The iron however, I just bought over the weekend.
suznquiltssnowfall11
Isn’t it adorable???
suznquiltssnowfall14
& it looks so cute with Snowfall don’t you think?
suznquiltssnowfall12
I need to stop procrastinating
suznquiltssnowfall13
but I hardly know where to start.
The first cut it always the hardest!
I don’t want to waste a single snippet.
I hope your day looks just as bright!
I think maybe Jan Patek designed this collection just for me.
I absolutely LOVE these fabrics!
I know.
Don’t say it.
There’s BLUE in there!!!
It is in the gray/green family, but it’s definitely blue.
Also included though is charcoal, gold, olive, ecru & red.
 Suzn+Quilts+Moda+Garden+House+4
The reds…
I can’t wait bear to cut into them…
I think I’ll just look at them a while longer.
for Moda.
Taco soup is simmering in the crock pot,
so I’m ready for dinner when the time arrives.
No excuses.
I’ve got to get cutting…
