Do You Sew Suzn Quilts’ Patterns?

I have thoughtful customers!

Whether I sell to them directly, via quilt shops, catalogs or the internet,

they seek me out & send me photos of quilts they’ve made from my patterns.

I

that!

It’s very exciting & thoughtful.

It’s almost as much fun as Christmas morning, really!

This week I received an image of the large snowman quilt

made with my “Little Frosties” pattern from Jeanne B.

Isn’t it striking on the green background?

& the clover “buttons” are adorable.

I had to share him with you.

And since I’m doing show & tell…

Here’s another one that I received a while back from Moira B.

Look at the awesome quilting Moira B. added.

I don’t remember now if she quilted over it after she quilted it quilt-as-you-go,

or if she just sewed the strips together then layered & quilted it.

Moira, If you’re reading this let us know.

If you remember, also taught this pattern for a guild last summer.

(& I remembered to take photos…)

I hope you’ve all finished your snowmen and have them ready to hang!

Some had them ready to bind when they left class.

You can find this pattern here on my website on the Quilt-As-You-Go page.

Yes, he’s quilt-as-you-go,

which means quick & easy!

Is your guild or quilt group looking for teachers for 2019 & 2020?

I travel to teach & lecture too.

Here is a link to my workshop page.

Do you have images of quilts that you made from my patterns or books?

Want to share with us?

Send me the images.

Dresden Plate Quilt, new fabric collection, Tiny Dresden quilts

Meet Flower Garden Gatherings

At market I fell in love with Lisa Bongean’s

Flower Garden Gatherings by Moda.

It’s a rainbow of color!

I got samples a while back & finally set to cutting up the whole jelly roll into…

Yup!

~~~Tiny Dresden petals~~~
I must have cut close to a million of them.
OK, maybe 1,650 like the jelly roll of Jo Morton’s New Hope that I cut up & sewed back in January.
Aren’t they lovely???
Betsy agreed to hold them tangle-free as I work on 100 or so at a time.
There are so many that you can’t even see poor Betsy.
So far I have about 28 plates made.
My cutlery trays sure come in handy as I trim & press & move from ironing board to sewing machine to cutting table.
Can’t wait to show you more designs that you can make with little Dresden plates.
Are you sewing my Dresden Quilt Workshop Sampler with me?
You can see lots of color options on our Dresden Quilt Workshop Facebook group.
Please join & follow along to sew this awesome quilt.
It’s free.
You just need to buy the book, Dresden Quilt Workshop, & follow my blog.
It’s on my website if you still need a copy or if you want a kit.
Thanks for stopping by!
New Patterns Spring 2018, #7
New Pattern #7
Love & Dresden Kisses.
This is a fun quilt to make!
Of course you can use just 1 red fabric, I however cannot!
Where is the fun in that?
Once I decided on the reds I needed a background.
It looks like at this point some straightening up was necessary.
I guess I couldn’t find a suitable background in my mess.
It must have been so bad that I needed to photograph it?
I do see shiny wood floor there…
It may or may not look the same today.
This little red star print by Minick & Simpson for Moda was the perfect choice.
It’s from their Snowfall Christmas collection last year.
Next I needed to decide if the reds would actually work.
And would the red plate show up on the charcoal background?
This red one will do.
And now that all the pieces are cut it’s time to sew.
At some point I decided it didn’t need the piano key inner border.
Probably when I decided I’d prefer to start working on Dresden petals instead.
Of course I took a pic of the petal pile!
This reminds me of a line from Madagascar, Lol..
A bit of pressing, turning, pressing and voila!
This is where according to my phone’s camera I took a hiatus
& we bought a new van.
12 1/2 years & 251,000 miles later.
It was time!
Notice it’s in the red family too.
Come to think if it, it’s the second “red” van that we’ve bought in February!
Weird!
I also took in an antique mall,
where I often tend to find my entertainment:
But then got back to work.
These quilts don’t design or sew themselves!
The cream dot in the center of the “O” makes me smile.
Meet Dresden Love & Kisses.
My friend, Loraine tested this pattern for me.
(if you find any mistakes that she didn’t it’s her fault.)
She also helped name it for me.
Thanks, Loraine!
A little bit of fusible web applique, a few X’s and a few O’s, but a lot of fun!
You guessed it, it’s on my website.
My Life, new fabric collection, New Pattern Sample
New Fabric, Circulus & Lollies Sweet
I found a magical fabric collection!
It’s Circulus & Lollies Sweet by Jen Kingwell for Moda fabrics.
There are lots of dots,
but the cool part is all the stripes from just a handful of prints!
Each stripe will accommodate my Tiny & Mini Dresden petals and my Tiny Dresden background squares too.
It’s not my usual color pallet you might say, but I sure am loving the bright variety of these fabrics!
New ideas are in store for you here on my cutting table!
These are some Mini Dresden petals.
A nice bold, fun contrast don’t you think?
I’m working on the new pattern samples but it’ll be a bit before they’re ready for you.
Look at this sweet mess!!!
I can’t wait to show you all of it!
In the meantime, what are you up to?
I hope it’s something fun.
My Life, My Sewing Room, New Moda Fabric Collection
Timeless, New Fabric Collection
Suzn+Quilts+Timeless+cabinet
As the sun streams through my sewing room windows this morning I’m not sure which I’m enjoying more, this lovely new “Timeless” collection by the extremely creative and talented Jo Morton for Moda, or the extra light in my room so early in the morning.
Suzn+Quilts+Timeless+bundle
The colors and designs are very “Jo Morton” I think.
Suzn+Quilts+Timeless+spread
Pretty, creative and new, yet they feel like the civil war prints that I also love.
Suzn+Quilts+Timeless+Love+It
Coming to a quilt shop near you soon I hope!
You can see the whole collection here on Moda’s website.
I’ve got work to do.
I’m dreaming of Dresdens.
But today is my mom’s birthday, so I’m looking forward to spending this day with my parents and whatever that entails… hopefully ice cream!
Dresden Plates, My Life, New Pattern Sample
I Need a Few Elves
I finally cut the new Gratitude & Preservation fabrics yesterday.
Suzn+Quilts+Sewing+Gratitude+Cause+selvages
I cut lots of Mini Dresden petals for my next quilt.
Suzn+Quilts+Sewing+Gratitude+Cause+petals
 Betsy is a lot of help.
Suzn+Quilts+Pressinging+Gratitude+Cause+petals
She keeps the string of petals wrinkle free until I can get to them.
Today I’m trimming and pressing
Suzn+Quilts+Pressinging+Gratitude+Cause+pressing+petals
but I could use some elves to help me out!
Do you know of any?
What have you been doing this Labor Day weekend?
The carnival is in town so we’ve been eating well!
And of course as always, David shot the star out so we have a new addition to our family.
Suzn+Quilts+Sewing+Gratitude+Cause+turtle+face
And as always, the prizes are huge!
Suzn+Quilts+Sewing+Gratitude+Cause+Big+turtle+face
This guy takes up my entire 4′ drafting table!
Everyone needs a 4′ sea turtle, right?
It won’t be here long.
I mentioned Clare giving maybe giving it to one of her little babysitting friends that’s turning 3 this week and although she already bought her a very cool gift, she’s excited that she’ll be the hit of the party when she shows up with the huge turtle!
She and her big sister will be able to sit on this guy at the same time and still have turtle left over!
[and I’m excited too ;)]
